It was Chris and Mika’s third race outing of the year, this time taking on the Silverstone National circuit in the usual format of two sprint races followed by a pit stop race the next day. It’s a scientific fact that when you’re wearing better looking overall’s that you are a faster driver (look it up) and this stayed true for Mika and Chris as both of them smashed their best times from practice.
Sadly both of them smashing their times did not equate to beating the majority of the field as both drivers are still off the pace- but at each race outing they have got closer and closer to the field. Maybe by the time the both drivers have 20years experience under their belts they can progress from P20 to P19. Thats not to say the drivers came last by any means, in fact in the pit stop race the duo managed to lap the Porsche Cayman GT4 driven by Fareed Ali 3 times! We told you sausage baps drop your lap times.
It also appears neither Chris or Mika have learnt that you can very easily jinx your driving. After two succesful days with no spins and not coming off the track at all both drivers were clearly delighted, and were heard saying “we havent come off once this meeting, thats pretty good for us”. Cue the next race and qualifying section both drivers having diversions on their laps to help the silverstone groundsman trim the grass, specifically at Brooklands and Luffield Corner to collecting some shavings to take home as souvenirs. Luckily they managed to keep the front splitter intact this time and didn’t have to put another piece onto the wall of shame.
All in all it was another great weekend of racing with the 22GT team and hopefully the race at Rockingham on 18/19th June can be just as fun
